JoAnna Lever,

Welcome to the Fayetteville Virtual Academy! My name is JoAnna Lever, and I am the Principal of FVA. This is my seventeenth year in education. In 2000, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education through Arkansas Tech University and my Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Arkansas in 2010. I served as an elementary school teacher (K-6) and instructional facilitator in the Fort Smith Public School District for ten years.

While attending graduate school my son, Kaden, and I fell in love with Fayetteville and made the move up the hill in 2011. This community has so many things to offer…the arts, academics, outdoor attractions, technology, sports…the list could go on and on! Since moving to Fayetteville, I have served as an instructional facilitator at Leverett and most recently, Butterfield. While working in that role, I had many opportunities to design curriculum, manage data, and collaborate with teachers and administrators in our district. I look forward to working with our students and their parents, our teachers and the community during the upcoming school year!

Fayetteville Virtual Academy is offering a unique educational experience to children in Northwest Arkansas! Our goal is to provide flexible, personalized online learning while still offering students opportunities for face-to-face interaction with their teachers and experiences in our local community. There is no other school in the state of Arkansas where a student can work on their assignments in the comfort of their own home one day, go into school the next day and get instruction from their teachers, followed by opportunities to complete field experiences in areas that they have chosen to specialize in. This is a very exciting time in education, and I can’t wait to see what our students are able to accomplish!
